ASTM Standard 15kV-XLPE Insulated MV Middle Voltage Power Cable

Application

15kV CU 133% TRXLPE Fully Neutral LLDPE is mainly used for primary underground power distribution in pipeline/conduit systems, suitable for use in wet or dry place, direct burial, underground pipeline, and locations exposed to sunlight. When used at voltage of 15,000v or lower, the conductor temperatures not to exceed 90°C during normal working.

Construction

Conductor: Grade A or Grade B Compressed concentric stranded aluminum alloy, Aluminium or copper conductor. Stranded conductors are waterproofed with conductor filling compound.

Conductor Shielding: Extruded thermosetting semiconducting shielding, which can be freely stripping from the conductor and bonded to the insulation layer.

Insulation layer: Extruded, unfilled Tree-Retardant Cross-linked Polyethylene (TR-XLPE) , defined as ANSI/ICEA S-94-649 - 133% insulation level.

Insulation Screen: Extruded thermoset semi conductive screen with controlled adhesion to the insulation providing the required balance between electrical integrity and ease of stripping.

Metallic Screen: Solid bare copper wires applied in a spiral with uniform spacing.

Waterproofing:Apply waterproof agent around the insulation shield and neutral wire to prevent longitudinal water penetration. Longitudinal water penetration should be tested according to the latest version of ICEA T-34-664, but the minimum requirement is 15 psig for 1 hour.

Sheath: Linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) sheath, black with red extruded stripes
